-3 cups (720 ml) sugar
-4 cups (960 ml) water

Instructions:

1. In a bowl combine together all-purpose flour, baking powder, whole milk and ghee. Mix them together until you get a smooth, soft dough.

2. Divide the dough into 25-30 small ball-shaped portions.

3. Heat the ghee in a shallow frying pan and deep fry the balls on medium flame until they become golden brown in color.

4. Take out the gulab jamuns from the frying pan and put them aside.

5. In another pot mix together the sugar and water, add the saffron strands and bring it to a boil.

6. Reduce the flame and drop the fried balls into the boiling syrup.

7. Cover the pot and simmer for 15-20 minutes over low flame until the gulab jamuns get a soft and spongy texture.

8. Take out the gulab jamuns from the syrup and put them aside until it cools down.

9. You can serve the gulab jamuns warm or at room temperature with a garnish of your choice. Enjoy!
